Who comes up with the names for the OPI nail polishes ? --- I don't know....... but they are certainly original. I received this new blush color from the Holland Collection as birthday gift and love it. I also got a really fun orange color that I can't wait to try. {If there is a nail polish rehab, I need to go} In these pictures I am wearing a new peplum top from H&M. Peplum seems to be a major spring trend and I can see why! Hoping to snap a better shot of this shirt as the weather warms up.

New Beginnings

To say my last month was busy would be a major understatement. I said goodbye to Fredericton, my home of over 4.5 years and moved back to where I grew up. I also said goodbye to my wonderful friends at Radian6 in Fredericton, and started a brand new position in the SJ office, which I absolutely love. And now that things are starting to settle down, I am feeling more at ease and will be able to begin blogging again. These pictures were snapped over the weekend while running errands. I love the stereotypical Canadian winter background and will take any excuse to be near the beautiful Kennebecasis River. Apologies for my absence, but now I am back :)

As many of you know, I have recently been participating in Downtown Fredericton's holiday campaign called #bringitdowntown. Today, I am really excited to share the pictures from my downtown adventure with you! I have my own Saturday morning routine like many locals do in Fredericton. During my routine over the weekend, I documented my favorite ways to bring the love downtown. All the stores in downtown Fredericton are fabulous and unique in their own way. Just when I thought I would never see the snow again, it came! Yesterday I was very thankful for my warm jacket and comfortable boots. Winter in the Maritimes can be harsh at times, making a quality jacket and boots critical for winter adventures. I invested in this coat last year, and couldn’t be happier with my purchase. It is the definition of warm, and is even made in Canada! Although the price point is slightly higher than most winter jackets, it is quality made and worth every penny. After frolicking in the snow, my afternoon consisted of hot chocolate and candy canes.

These outfit shots were taken on a beautiful afternoon in Rothesay. The sun was shining and it certainly did not feel like the end of November. I love this unusual weather but am starting to wonder if we will have a white christmas ? As you probably know, I am obsessed with polka-dots, and grab this shirt every time I pack my bag for the weekend. These earrings were a pair of my grandmothers, and have been worn almost everyday since I got them. Vintage pieces are always the best ! This new color of nail polish reminded me of when I used to paint my nails with white out in elementary school. White can be a tricky color to wear on your nails, but I ended up really liking this, and think the subtle sparkles are great for the holidays.

When the lovely Shasta of downtown Fredericton presented me with the opportunity to be a part of their upcoming holiday campaign, I was immediately interested. Hello again ! After a needed vacation from my blog, I am back in action. I realize I have had a lack of posts lately, but thank you for checking back in !!! During the days I am not blogging, I continue to read all of my favourites and gain inspiration from a variety of different places. Lately, I have been keeping very busy with work and preparing for the holidays. I wore this outfit while running errands over weekend in Fredericton. This week, I am happily preparing for Halloween, and trying to knock some items off my Fall list. Important things to get accomplished are : carve a pumpkin, make caramel corn, and finish my costume. My apologies for being such a bad blogger lately, I need to fill you in on some of my new favourite purchases. I was feeling extremely under the weather; additionally, mother nature was being strange. While I was taking a mini vacation from my blog, there have been many changes in my life and wardrobe. We said goodbye to summer in New Brunswick, and now require jackets, boots, as well as ice scrapers in the morning. Our leaves have already seemed to change colour, and the nights definitely require a comfy sweater . Fall is absolutely one of my favourite seasons for dressing because there are so many options. I am most excited for layering, comfy sweaters, scarves, and boots. This camel coloured scarf was handmade by my friend Laura, and this forest green colour nail polish is my current obsession. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend spent with family/family, and took time to reflect on all we have to be thankful for ! <3

Element5 Review & Giveaway !

I recently had the pleasure of having a facial done at Element5 Spa, and was asked to do a review. As much as I love to spoil myself, I tend to gravitate toward shopping versus taking care of my body. I am no stranger to the spa, but rarely get to visit Element5 in Saint John. The spa is located in Market Square, and uses all Aveda products. Now... If you are not familiar with Aveda, I would suggest trying any of their products. I have yet to find a product that I haven't loved. My favourites include : Rosemary Peppermint shampoo & conditioner, Rosemary Peppermint lotion, Aveda Blue Oil, and Aveda face exfoliant & toner. Element5 offers a variety of different services, and the complete list can be found here!

When first entering the spa, I was greeted by friendly staff who guided me to the waiting room. My spa experience began when I was offered cucumber infused water or tea. Having been to Element5 before, I knew to go for the cucumber infused water because it is soooo refreshing. The waiting room was completely relaxing, and then I was greeted Pam who was my aesthetician.

Next we moved into the room for my Elemental Nature Facial, and I dipped my toes into a warm foot soak that was absolutely heavenly. Pam asked me questions about my skin type, and what I was looking to get out of the facial. This was my first facial so I told her that I wanted to feel refreshed and relaxed. The room played calming music, and the lighting was perfect for any spa experience.

A sensory journey prior to my facial led me to choose cinnamon as my scent for the day. I think I chose cinnamon because it reminds me of fall and pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. The rest of my facial was somewhat a blur because I was in complete relaxation. Pam was amazing at telling me what she was doing, and also gave information about the products she used.

Not only did my face feel absolutely refreshed after the facial was done; my legs and arms felt amazing too. Hand, arm, foot, and leg massages are included with 60 minute facials at Element5, and it took everything in me not to fall asleep.

The facial made my skin feel completely smooth and cleaner than ever before . I wash my face two times a day on a regular basis, yet, this is not remotely comparable to an Aveda facial. I have been lucky enough to visit Element5 for a massage, waxing, and a pedicure. Each service delivers the same high-standard of quality . I highly recommend this spa for anyone living in or visiting the Saint John area. If you are seeking relaxation and place importance on your well being, you will leave Element5 feeling invigorated and refreshed.

I want to show you my new camel trousers because I am completely in love with them ! They are perfect to wear to the office, and are more stylish than the everyday black pair. I am loving all camel colored items for fall, and am tempted to purchase a coat in this color as well. On another note, I kissed my summer nail colors goodbye, and said Hello to fall shades. Black is definitely my go-to color in the Fall & Winter months, and the first coat of the season felt grrrreat!

When first peeking my head out the front door this weekend, a fall breeze sent a chill up my spine. The sun was shining, but it definitely felt cold. I took this as a hint from Mother Nature, and decided to pull out my tights from the back of my closet. These extremely light tights were exactly what I needed to still wear my shorts. I think they created a rather cute transition outfit for this time of year. Now is the time for transition outfits because our mornings are chilly, and the afternoons are warm. Layering is key as the temperature rises throughout the day, and it is nice to be able to change your outfit accordingly.

Love it or hate it, but I love it! This vampire-esque lip pencil is my newest purchase from Made You Blush in Fredericton. It is definitely not office appropriate, but gives an awesome evening look for the daring. I wore this lipstick, as well as my new Silver Daisy sweater to the KV Jazz & Blues festival. I love playing around with different make up looks, and the lovely ladies at Made You Blush gave me just the confidence I needed to rock it.

Here is a quick little post in the middle of my extra long weekend....taking both Friday & Tuesday off from work was a great idea ! For the last 16 years, the last weekend of summer was dependant on when I would have to go back to school. Now, my last weekend of summer is determined by the cool breeze, changing leaves, and lack of mosquitos. I love that coloured denim is a huge trend for fall, and instantly fell in love with these jeans when I was in Montreal. Coloured denim instantly makes any outfit a little more exciting, and I am tempted to grab some other colours too !

Good afternoon to you all, I hope you are enjoying this beautiful Tuesday ! Summer is almost over, and it is days like today that we have to take advantage of. I am having some issues with my blogger layout today, and this is why my blog is looking different. These pictures were taken in a hurry before my way out the door. I think you would all agree that every wardrobe has staples. For me, some of these staples include a fabulous pair of jeans that you can always rely on, a crisp white shirt, pearl earrings, and bold red lips. This outfit is completely effortless, but still looks put together and classic. After reading Lauren Conrad's book entitled "Style", I realized how important these staples really are. It is sometimes difficult not to splurge on trendy items, and than put more focus on your individual staples. The best thing about wardrobe staples is that they are unique to the owner. As soon as I saw the J Brand Houlihan Skinny Cargo Pants last spring, I instantly fell in love with this trend. I have little problem, splurging on a pair of J Brand jeans; however, a $200+ price tag for cargo skinnies seemed too much. I opted for these Guess skinnies at half the price, but am still yearning for the J Brands. I love when I can incorporate pieces of my wardrobe into different seasons. As fall seems to be peeking around the corner, I think it is time to start sorting through my closet, and determining which items will be travelling to Fall with me.

Hate it or love it, but I am a huge fan of ugly mustard yellow. My friends always tease me for being so fond of this color, but I am instantly attracted to it. My quest for the perfect mustard cardigan concluded last summer on a trip to Montreal. After 5 months of searching, I found the winner at one of my favorite stores. This summer, I returned to Montreal and this little blouse instantly caught my eye. This purchase was a no brainer for me because 1) I love ugly mustard yellow 2) I love peter pan collared shirts 3) I love sheer materials. This is such a perfect color for fall, and I love seeing it in stores. Which fall colors are you most anxious to incorporate into your fall wardrobe?

As part of my Friday odds & ends, I wanted to share a few shots from my friend Jen's wedding. The wedding was last weekend, and the weather was beautiful. Jen looked absolutely stunning in a lace detailed dress, and bridesmaids wore cream/ ivory with a punch of pink. The wedding had a farm theme, and there were so many little touches that made the theme amazing for the farming couple. As Jen and Mike left the church, a vocalist sang Sugarland's song "Stuck Like Glue".

Here is my second outfit that I wore to the Osheaga festival in Montreal. We were blessed with amazing weather the entire vacation. Shorts, tanks, hats, and sunnies were an absolute must to stay cool. I know that many people have their favorite stores, and sometimes ignore the others. I usually behave this way too;however, I found this little owl in a store I rarely go into. I am glad I did because this little guy was only $2, yep, $2 ! A much better deal than the same little owl I saw at Urban Outfitters for $16.99.

Sadly my vacation is over.... I am back in Fredericton where the rain is pouring, and my hair is anything but straight.

The sun is shining at 37, and the music has been flowing all weekend. I opted for this outfit to keep me cool while shuffling through the 30 000+ people at Osheaga. It is such a treat for me to come to a larger city, and take in the fashion around me. I saw so many beautiful outfits and found much inspiration from the everyday people who live in Montreal. After searching high and low, I have finally found a maxi skirt that fits my short figure. Although I am a little late on this trend, I absolutely adore this plain skirt. This jacket was part of a "back to school" shopping spree all the way back in early 2000. Is that even possible ? Ol' trusty never lets me down, and feels brand new to this day. In this situation, it was perfect to throw on over a casual outfit. Jean jackets are definitely key elements for every wardrobe.I know these oxfords have been photographed a million times, but I love them, and they were definitely my shoe of spring. Yesterday was the best Wednesday I have ever had. The boy came up and bought his first car, we went out for appetizers on my favourite patio, and I found the best surprise ever in his glove compartment . (Pics to be posted soon). I have already started planning the outfits I want to wear to Osheaga in Montreal, and of course the accessories to go along with them. Montreal is a very stylish city, and I looooove to outfit watch every time I visit. Some of the items on this set are ones that I already own, and some are items I am currently lusting over. This is the second week of having to wear these glasses, and I'm still having a hard time getting used to something on my face all the time. I feel like a nerd, but I guess thats a good thing right ? Today I am volunteering at the local SPCA, and I am so excited to be playing with all the doggies and kitties all day. I have an enormous soft spot in my heart for anything with fur. Hello all, I would like to introduce you to my new glasses. I have to wear them for 3-4 weeks permanantly, and then for reading only. Apparently I have injured my eyes by not wearing my previous glasses, and this is my punishment. I wanted to pick a trendy type of glasses, and these immediately stood out to me. Wonderful Wedding

This weekend I went to the most beautiful wedding. One of my best friends older sister was married on Friday, and the entire wedding was complete perfection. The bride looked absoultely amazing in a timeless wedding dress. I couldn't help but gasp as she walked down the isle. I looooooove weddings because they are so magical and everyone attending always looks fabulous. I also love any excuse to dress up, and this is what I chose for the special day. I thought this hair piece would be appropriate where the Royal wedding just happened, and I take any excuse to wear a fun pair of heels. I am making up for my lack of post's with this random Saturday blog. My lovely boyfriend and his parents dog named Weezy have come to visit me for the weekend. We decided to go for a stroll in O'Dell park, and to our surprise the local animal shelter was putting on an event called Bark in the Park ! There were doggies everywhere, and Weezy had the time of her life. Last night, I was picking up a few items at the Superstore, and found this treasure at Joe Fresh. Childhood Memories

I am finally home after a wonderful long weekend in Rothesay. I spent the first 17 years of my life in Rothesay and miss it often. I went to my favorite places, ate at one of my favorite restaurants, and saw my wonderful friends. This post is named childhood memories because the pictures are taken at one of my absolute favorite places. Rothesay Yaught Club is where I spent every summer as a child preparing for our summers of sailing. The beautiful Kennebecasis river is amazing, and I constantly miss the stunning view. Grey, cloudy, cold, wet, rain...... I had full intentions of doing an outfit post today, but it is too terrible outside. Today I started my first day of work at Radian6, and had a fabulous time. I wore a business casual outfit that consisted of skinny dress pants, and a polka dot blouse. I am excited that my new company has a flexible dress code, which will allow me to wear my favourite pieces more often. To replace my outfit post today, I thought I would share the current items on my wish list. I am loving cropped tops for summer, and plan to do an American Apparel order very shortly. Also, I am a huge sunglass collector, and am thinking that a pair of Karen Walker shades haaaave to be in my near future. On a final note, I have wanted this Michael Kors watch and Tiffany pendant forever! With that being said, let the saving begins!

It's a lovely day in Fredericton and I am feeling productive. I ran errands all morning, and now the boy and I are refinishing a kitchen table in the sunshine. I still feel like I am in vacation mode, and am having a hard time coming back to reality. My roommate and I moved into a new house yesterday, and I am am living out of boxes. I managed to pull together this outfit for my day of productivity. These trousers were only $15 ! And how cute is the feminine lace detailing in the back of this shirt ?

Hello All, I am so happy to be back in blog world. I am sunkissed from my wonderful vacation to Punta Cana, and have fulfilled my much needed vacation fix. We spent 6 amazing days in the Dominican Republic. I went parasailing, swam with stingrays, swam with sharks, and went snorkeling with the cutest tropical fishies. Needless to say, I was very happy to come back home to Canada. I hope all of you enjoyed the awesome blog post's that Kate did while I was away. I was really excited to post my beachwear outfit pictures from my vacation, but unfortunately my camera digested too many grains of sand and broke on our third day. I also want to apologize in advance for the lack of blog post's within the next week or so. I am in the process of moving, and my life is scattered into brown boxes. Botanicals. I love the idea of dressing in floral prints. Its so feminine but at the same time, can make such a bold statement.

Boldly colored anything! Another look I love, a bright bag can do wonders to virtually any outfit. I am especially obsessed with bright, over sized clutches at the moment. They are popping up everywhere!

I've been on the search for some for the store but haven't found the perfect line yet...wish me luck!

Cropped shirts and dolman sleeves.

As for cropped shirts, I wasn't quite sure what I thought about them at first. But now, i have to say, I'm loving the look! I was in NYC a few weeks ago (for a buying trip) and they were huge for Fall. So, obviously, I had to get some for the store.

The airy feel and look of dolman sleeves are simply irresistible. I love the look of a larger sleeve on a shirt or tunic. Look forward to seeing a lot of this trend for Summer and Fall as well.

Recipe for a Sprained Ankle

Today started off as a bad day because it's a Monday; however, after realizing that I am headed to Dominican on Thursday, things suddenly didn't seem so bad. I have already packed my suitcase, and find myself throwing in unnecessary items every time I walk by. It snowed today, while the sun was beaming down. I am hoping the weather down south isn't so bipolar.... I bought this adorable blazer thinking I would wear right away, and had a hard time finding the right combination for it. How adorable are the shoulders? Also, the title of this blog is in reference to the picture of my heels.

It's Saturday mornings at the Boyce's Farmers Market that make Fredericton so special. I have been going to the Fredericton market ever since I was little and love all of the different vendors. Our weekly tradition consists of samosas, smoothies, and cupcakes. Today is a beautiful day, and I am anxiously packing my suitcase for Dominican. Only 5 more days until I am relaxing on the beach and enjoying a new book! I am very happy to say goodbye to my winter wardrobe and lighten up my look.

Although I am enjoying my retirement from University, I find it so weird not to be busy all of the time! With that being said, I got bored of Fredericton and decided to drive to Saint John to see what Silver Daisy Design's had in store. In My Makeup bag

Good Afternoon Bloggers! I have been meaning to do this for awhile, but have been so busy. Here are a few of my absolute favourite items. These are staple items that are currently in my makeup bag and I cannot live without them. If you haven't tried Moroccan oil, I highly recommend it. This light oil smell delicious leaves your hair silky smooth and soft. On the top centre lays Smashbox lip exfoliant, I use this once or twice a week to keep my lips soft. MAC Fluidline gel eyeliner is black black black, and it is easy to put on with an angle brush. This is by far the best gel eyeliner I have tried to date... My all time favourite eyeshadow is MAC's "Style Snob". This is an extremely versatile colour and is perfect for everyday wear. Everyone knows how amazing Lancome Hypnose mascara is, no explanation needed. I tend to have a shiny forehead, and like to use Smashbox "anti-shine" when I am going out. On a final note, this is the MAC lipstick I have been wearing in my pictures. Yeah....Im not afraid to admit that I am a small makeup whore.

What a wonderful SUNday ! Everyone in Fredericton is coming out of hiding and enjoying the beautiful sunshine. If you haven't already seen, Fortunate Fool is featured in [HERE] magazine this week. There is a little article about this blog and other lovely local bloggers!!!
I have always loved nautical stripes, and am thrilled when they appear in spring look books. I love pairing these stripes with military inspired jackets and finishing off the look with a pop of colour.

Today we went to ReLish Gourmet Burgers for supper ! This small restaurant is not like your normal burger joint. Each customer is greeted with enthusiasm and the overall experience is truly unique. This franchise of restaurants opened in 2010, and is continuing to grow across Atlantic Canada. If you haven't been ReLished yet, I recommend you try it. I had a yummy burger with fried mushrooms, caramelized onions, and garlic pesto ! YUM. I was on the hunt for a mustard coloured cardigan for quite some time, and was lucky enough to find one in Montreal while attending the Lady Gaga concert. I think the sweater colour correlates well with our restaurant choice.

This post on a Sunday is the result of missing two post's in a row (Bad Blogger). On Thursday, we walked all the way to the walking bridge to find my camera battery was dead. On Friday, mother nature gave us a blizzard and almost a foot of snow. Still angry about the snow, however, I am going to appreciate Dominican in 18 days so much more ! I spent my entire weekend finalizing group project's before my last week of university. I also took a few pictures to make myself a border for the top of the blog. (Let me know what you think) !

11 Days & Counting

Last week was absolutely insane, and I am so glad it is over. I am finally starting to feel like myself again this week, and cannot believe there are only 11 days left of my undergraduate degree. Today I was able to catch up on everything from last week, and was even able to go downtown for a quick shop. I ended up purchasing a cute red shirt from a thrift store named Renu Boutique. It is a little known secret for most in Fredericton, and there are some really good finds there. The store brings in new,used, and consignment items that are absolutely fabulous. Today was my first time wearing flats this season, Happy Monday !

Today I crossed off more than half of my "to do " list. I even managed to have a cat nap before going to work. The exciting news I mentioned yesterday happened today as well! Julia Wright from Here magazine, interviewed me for their April issue. My new blog "Fortunate Fool" is going be featured in their next issue. Here Magazine can be found at various places all over New Brunswick, and I cannot wait to see the write up. Stay Tuned! Today's post features my MAC Viva Glam Gaga Lipstick. This colour grew on me immensely, and I plan to incorporate it into many spring outfits.
